A small mini game where you use the left and right thrusters of a lunar lander to drop your ship on level ground follows. You can see from the screenshot that the green strip is where you have to land, and you must be directly upright or the lander will explode. Don't worry, you can try as often as you like, though it is pretty easy. You'll be awarded 50 level points just for the effort.
When you reach the surface, you'll find that it's barren and full of craters, like you'd expect on a moon. There is a path leading away from the area you landed in, so follow it.
